Fresh fighting between the SSC forces and Somaliland militias erupted in the Ayn region of Somalia on May 22 2010, reportedly killed at least 17 civilians and injuring another 50 by Somaliland militias in the area of Widhwidh and Bali-hada.
Number of people have been forced to flee from their homes and temporarily settled around Widhwidh and Buhudle in appalling conditions. The tension still is high and heavy rains worsened the condition of IDPs which has been already reported 4 children and 3 adults have dead due to heavy rains and luck of shelter in last 24 hours. No aid agencies are operating in the area, local doctor in Widhwidh district told reporters that there is fear of out break diseases. In conclusion we are requesting international communities and aid agencies to supply urgent medical and shelter and also human right groups to oversee all barbaric actions that Somaliland forces doing in the area.
